Eligibility checklist

  • Class 12 with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics; minimum marks as per the brochure.
  • Permanent residency (PRC) of Assam for state-quota seats; other conditions per the brochure.
  • Age and number-of-attempt rules, if any, are stated in the brochure.

Pace and marking

  • Time budget. 180 min ÷ 120 = 90 s per question: more time per question than JEE Main.
  • When to attempt. Use the extra time to check calculations. Attempt when you can rule out at least one option.
  • The arithmetic. With +4 / −1, a blind guess averages +0.25 with wide variance; ruling out one option averages about +0.67, and ruling out two +1.5.

Tips from জয়যাত্ৰা

  • HS textbooks first. CEE questions follow the Class 11 and 12 syllabus closely.
  • Use the extra time to check. At 90 seconds a question, re-checking calculations is affordable and saves negative marks.
  • Attempt when you can rule out at least one option (+4 / −1).
  • If you also write JEE Main, your preparation overlaps almost fully. Choose both goals and practise once for both.
  • The JEE-format mini mock in joyjatra Go is good pace training; CEE gives you more time, so aim to finish early.

A phase-by-phase plan

  1. HS textbooks first · Months 1–3

2–3 h a day. Finish Class 11 revision chapter by chapter with textbook exercises. Formula sheets and a mistake notebook. Weekend 40-question subject test.

  2. Class 12 and practice · Months 4–6

3–4 h a day. Class 12 chapters in school order with objective questions after each. Timed sectional tests at 90 s per question. Organic reaction maps, inorganic textbook tables.

  3. Mocks · Months 7–8

4–5 h a day. Two full 120-question OMR mocks a week. Balance with HS final revision. Review every mock the same day.

A typical week

DayFocus
MonPhysics chapter + 30 questions
TueMathematics chapter + 30 questions
WedChemistry chapter + 30 questions

Common traps

  • Ignoring Class 11 chapters
  • Rushing because of JEE habits when CEE gives more time
  • Not checking the ASTU notice for the current year
