03 · TIME & MARKS

Pace target and an honest guessing rule

PACE BUDGET

60 min ÷ 100 = 36 s per question. Typical split: General Awareness 8 min, English 12, Reasoning 15, Quant 25.

ATTEMPT RULE

First pass: answer everything under 30 seconds. Second pass: medium questions. Leave the long calculations for last.

THE ARITHMETIC

With +2 / −0.5, a blind guess averages only +0.125; ruling out one option makes it about +0.33 and two makes it +0.75.

Habits that hold up

  • Speed is accuracy repeated: do not rush untested methods.
  • Read one English editorial a day for comprehension.
  • Your SSC practice also builds ADRE and CSAT skills.

Start with a 50–30–20 split of learn, practise and revise, then let your own diagnostic results reshape it. joyjatra plans effort; it never predicts rank, cut-off or selection.
